I’m so energized and excited about my role as superintendent

I have just completed my 4th week at EPISD, and I am humbled by the outpouring of support and positive feedback from staff and the community! My first few weeks have exceeded my expectations, and I am truly honored and excited to serve as your new Superintendent! Along with the District Leadership Team, I have visited elementary campuses and hosted town hall events all across the District. Together, we have met many families and supporters from our schools and throughout our community, and we look forward to meeting many more! It has been a busy and productive time, and we have been energized about how much everyone cares about EPISD and its future. As expected, not all the feedback has been positive, but we want to hear good and bad news/comments so that we can improve our District.

During our visits, we have had the chance to learn about the great programs and activities happening at our campuses. We met parents, principals, and staff who are working hard to do their very best for our students. Most importantly, we see happy students who are ready to learn, and that is why we are here, to plant the seed of learning and provide positive learning environments for children.

At our visits, we collect parents’ concerns about their children’s education and our District. The input we receive will help shape our plans for EPISD. Based on our first few visits, we are looking into solutions to concerns discussed at our parent meetings. All of our visits have been incredibly positive experiences and, on behalf of my Leadership Team, I want to thank all the principals who have hosted us throughout the District.

In addition to our campus visits, we met some of our student leaders at our first Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. What an amazing group of students! I am impressed by their knowledge of issues and their desire to learn and increase their opportunities for success. I am also excited about the insight this group offers our Leadership Team.

In the coming months, we will continue to visit schools to reach our goal of visiting every campus in my first 100 school days as Superintendent. It is important that we all take the time to listen and learn from each other so that we can work collaboratively to improve our District.

If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of the high school town hall meetings, I encourage you to come by one of the six remaining meetings (see schedule here). I will be there along with members of my senior Leadership Team, ready to answer your questions. If you cannot make one of the meetings and want to offer suggestions or ask a question, please click on the town hall icon on our home page to send an email (or follow this link). We are also using this format to receive questions for our town hall meetings. We appreciate all the input we receive.

Our goal, within the next 5 years, is to make EPISD one of the best districts in the state and nation. We need your help and support to achieve this goal, but you have our commitment that we will do everything we can to make it happen!
